Zoe’s House
This beautiful Victorian home in Reigate wasn’t the typical project; there was no damp to fix, no cramped rooms to reconfigure, and no lack of natural light. Instead, I was asked to transform the ground floor ready for the house to pass from a daughter to her mother – a generational trade which involved a different way of living and a desire to be more connected to the garden.By removing a central wall to create a sequence of three interconnected rooms, for cooking, dining and entertaining, the garden can be admired from each and no room will be left unused. The kitchen is bathed in dappled morning light through the trees and the restoration of the original floorboards brings warmth.
Making the most of the generous Victorian proportions, the rooms are designed with an understated grandeur, honouring the original features to create a beautiful home for this new chapter.
